This is a work in progress. Below are some notes on planned next steps, along with ways in which you can help if you are interested.
- Expand Prototype: This prototype includes a few chapters linked above. These chapters are notable for their density of liturigical use or edge cases in how the annotations are implemented—for example readings that span partial verses or span multiple chapters. A larger effort is needed to implement this for the full Bible.
- Editing & Design: In parallel with adding the full Bible is a process to edit for correctness against the original liturgical documents and improve the design as needed based on use and feedback.
- Biblical Translation: This project currently uses two public domain translations of the biblical text due to copyright constraints: the King James Version (KJV) and the Douay-Rheims Challoner (DRA). Permission must be sought to use a liturgical translation, such as the forthcoming updated NABRE (USA), the ESV-CE (UK), or the NRSV-CE (Canada).
- Print Edition: This project started as a hand-annotated Bible, and the eventual goal is to publish—or partner with a Catholic publisher to publish—a print edition of the Liturgy Bible. This online version is a step in that direction to visualize the concept, hone the design, and prepare the data. The online protoype is useful of itself, but the goal is still to produce a printed edition for personal reading and reference. If you are a publisher interested, or know one who is, please reach out.
- Share your thoughts: Finally, please share your thoughts about the Liturgy Bible: Your feedback is helpful for improving the project!
